The unpleasantness of growing up in the jw world.
by greendawn injw children have typically a very hard time growing up because of having to be so different from other kids they can't celebrate christmas, easter, birthdays or national holidays can't associate with "worldly" kids because that can ruin good habits, and as teenagers have to suppress sexual urges at the time when they are at their most intense.
they are constantly under pressure and living in a jw environment that's not particularly loving, understanding, or supportive they will probaly tell them: if you feeling down do some more field work to cheer up.
no wonder why so many leave.

I always felt like the poor kid with his face pressed up against the big window at the department store at Christmas, looking at all the toys but not being able to have any of them. That's how I felt growing up, you could see all the good stuff going on "out there" but you couldn't participate in any of it.

by out of the box ini wanted to share this story.. we were (many years ago) going out in service.
i was in the car with annointed one driving, his wife and the person who had 'brought me into the faith' and my daughter.
we went through an intersection where this old man (annointed one) was not paying attention.

That is too weird, on the way home from the book study one winter night we got ass ended by the study conductor who was one of the annointed. My parents filed no police report, fixed our car out of their pockets and fixed the guy who hit us car even though he was financially better off.
As has been pointed out so many times on this board the blindness to their own fallacies just amazes me, my parents would always just go off on the deference Catholics paid to priests and bishops but couldn't see the same sort of thing going on with how Dubs treated the annointed.

how do JWs justify having children "in the last days?"
by kid-A inin the years leading up to 1975, there was an implicit (if not explicit) discouragement of having children given the proximity of armageddon.
for the most part, this seemed to have been ignored.
my jw grandma now has great-great grandchildren.

I was once told many did it because they weren't sure if people would be having children in the new system so they wanted to make sure they had kids before then so they could have them forever. I mean, how bizzare is that line of thinking? Planning your life on whatever whacked out vision you have of the new system.
